Tiny working-style mechanics, worn as jewellery. Each earring holds a 16mm watch movement rescued from a vintage wristwatch of the 1960s or 70s, set in a sterling silver claw setting so the gears, screws and tiny wheels are on show from every angle.
These are a delicate, modern take on steampunk fashion. Instead of oversized cogs and brass, the mechanics are small, refined and set in polished silver, so they work as easily with everyday outfits as with a full steampunk look.
The movements are 17-jewel calibres, which means the ruby jewels that once kept the watches running smoothly are still in place. Look closely and you'll spot the flashes of ruby red and brass gold among the silver cogs.
Watches of this era were made to be repaired and kept for life, but many have been left in drawers or discarded when they stopped ticking. We give their movements a second life as wearable trench art. As the parts are salvaged, no two movements are exactly alike, so your pair will have its own character.
They hang from sterling silver ear wires and are light enough for all-day wear.
